Display
You have the option of viewing records in one of two formats, brief and long. Brief display is the default. Switch between brief and long display using the brief/long menu box beneath the search box on the results page.

The brief display contains:
  • title
  • author(s)
  • document date
  • Bates number
The long display contains all the brief display fields, plus the following:
  • corporate author
  • corporate recipient
  • recipient
  • copied
  • organizations mentioned
  • persons mentioned
  • date loaded
Go to Preferences to change the fields that appear in the long and brief displays.

Next Bates/Previous Bates
The Next Bates/Previous Bates links allow you to navigate to "nearby" documents that might relate to the current document.

Sort
By default, results are sorted by their likely relevance to your search terms. You can reorder your results by document date (ascending or descending) date loaded (ascending or descending) or document page count (ascending or descending).

Search History
BATDA saves all of your searches as long as your session is active (the default session length is 24 hours). You can rerun a search by clicking on it on the Search History page. You can e-mail or download your search history.

View
BATDA provides two ways to display documents, PDF and page-by-page. Both options require Adobe Acrobat Reader to view - download this free program here.

Use the PDF option when you wish to view all pages at once, to print the entire document, or to save the entire document on your computer. PDFs are ideal for printing and saving.

Use page-by-page when you have a slower Internet connection or when you wish to preview a document's content.

Both options allow you to search the document text. However, when using page-by-page, you can search only the page you are currently viewing.
